All Syntero group programs are facilitated by licensed professionals and require pre-registration — some may require an intake assessment. There may be a cost associated with some groups.

Adult Relapse Prevention

This group is designed for adults in recovery from substance abuse who struggle with maintaining their recovery from substance use and may also have mental health challenges. The goal is to improve self-care and strengthen recovery skills. Both internal and external Syntero clients may be referred. External clients require an intake assessment prior to beginning group. ​Alcohol and Drug Education/Exploring Recovery Group

This group is designed to educate adult group members who are struggling with addiction about Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) including alcohol and other drugs and to increase awareness of the negative impact of alcohol and/or other substances on their lives. Both internal and external Syntero clients may be referred. External clients require an intake assessment prior to beginning group. Insurance? Days and times available upon request.

Alumni Support Group

This is an 8-10 session group using the approved Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) curriculum to provide a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach to addressing anger with the goal of decreasing impulsive, anger-driven behaviors. Both internal and external candidates may apply for enrollment. External candidates are required to complete an intake assessment. Days and times available upon request. Most insurances will apply.

Anger Management Group

This is a monthly evening support group for individuals who have graduated from outpatient counseling at Syntero and desire to maintain contact with Syntero community to support each other to enhance their continued mental wellness. Pre-registration is requested.

​​​​Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Skills Group

This is a 24+ session skills-based group that is open to new participants at the beginning of each of 4 modules. The four DBT skills modules covered are mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. Internal and external participants may enroll after interview by the group coordinator and intake assessment, if required. Participants are expected to have ongoing individual psychotherapy with their current therapist while they participate in group. If the referral is from an individual psychotherapist external to Syntero, a professional referral may be requested. Interested individuals who do not have a current therapeutic relationship with Syntero or who are not actively engaged in individual psychotherapy with an external psychotherapist may enroll for individual psychotherapy as a new Syntero client and be referred to the group by that therapist. Days and times available upon request. Most insurances will apply.

​​​DBT - Radically Queer (RQ) DBT Skills Group

This is a 24-session group that is open to new participants at the beginning of each module. Radically Queer (RQ) DBT is s a new take on DBT that looks through the lenses of feminist theory, queer theory, and minority stress theory to focus in on LGBTQIA+ specific issues and solutions. The group is open to members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies with the goal of creating a safe and inclusive environment for queer folks to learn and grow. Each week, the group will focus on one skill that can be used to both better manage emotions and combat internalized stigma. Days and times available upon request. Most insurances will apply.

DBT Grad Group

​This is an ongoing open group for those clients who have acquired a solid understanding of DBT skills and want more practice utilizing the skills in everyday life. Fitness for this group will be determined upon interview with group coordinator and/or by referral from facilitator for an existing DBT skills group. Both internal and external candidates may apply for enrollment. Days and times available upon request. Most insurances will apply.

 

​Adult Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

This group is designed for adults 18 and up who are struggling with addiction. There are 12-16 group therapy sessions of 3 hours along with bi-weekly or weekly individual therapy sessions. Weekly random drug screens and AA or NA meeting attendance is a required component of successful completion of this group. Both internal and external Syntero clients may be referred. External clients require an intake assessment prior to beginning group. Insurance? Days and times available upon request.

Wellness Support Group

This group provides participants with a positive space to discuss topics directed towards mindfulness, healthy food choices, relaxation techniques, habits and routines, sleep and rest, exercise and social contact. Pre-registration is requested. Open only to internal referrals. Not currently active.​​

​

Adult SUD Support Group

This free, weekly, one-hour support group is held virtually on Zoom and is facilitated by Syntero’s licensed clinicians. This group offers adults in recovery from substance use disorder a safe space to check in, share experiences and get support. Participants collectively decide on topics of discussion, which may include barriers to recovery, identifying supports, managing triggers, warning signs, relapse prevention strategies, current stressors, and progress tracking.
